In 2018 and 2019, Ontario employers have continued to be inundated with myriad new compliance obligations arising out of significant legislative and adjudicative activity. We will reflect on key recent developments, identify ongoing trends, and establish, evaluate and refine goals with the identified trends in mind.

In this session, participants will:

  • Explore key and recent developments in labour and employment law from 2018 and 2019, including the legalization of recreational cannabis and new amendments to the Employment Standards Act, 2000, among others;
  • Examine significant employment law trends to watch for to meet potential forthcoming obligations and reduce workplace risks when navigating people management issues;
  • Determine where employers should be focusing their attention; and
  • Identify practical strategies to deal with developments and trends within the workplace.
