This is an online session. The material is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, beginning IMMEDIATELY. Once registered, you can access the material at any time. However, you will only have access to the course for thirty days after REGISTRATION.

Research into why leaders fail and how experience improves performance shows that learning agility - the ability to apply current understanding and knowledge to “novel” situations - is the new differentiator for success. With the pace of change accelerating and organization cultures under siege with client demands for speed, choice, and quality, novel has become the new normal. Thriving in this emerging environment requires a much more adaptive, agile learning approach than the one most of us were programmed with in our many years of formal education. Think of learning agility as the lubricant for many other key success traits in today’s environment, such as resiliency, the ability to learn from experience, willingness to change, comfort moving away from habits and routines, and a strong need for growth.

This interactive workshop’s purpose is to provide practical steps you can take immediately to develop learning agility. You will learn about strategies to leverage your experience with classroom situations, with coaches and mentors, with on-the-job trial and error and with deliberate reflection time. You will leave the workshop with a clear idea of what good looks like and a draft plan to start closing critical gaps in behaviors to stop, start, and continue. The theme throughout this workshop will be learning is a process - not an event - that must be self-directed.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Articulate the neuroscience behind adult learning, including the application of AGES—Attention, Generation, Emotions, Spacing
  • Describe the required mindsets, skill sets, and tool sets capabilities to learn agilely
  • Determine best practices and pitfalls in learning through codified knowledge, including books, classes, and training, both face-to-face and virtual
  • Determine best practices and pitfalls in learning through information shared from mentors, coaches, and others with experience
  • Determine best practices and pitfalls in learning through deliberate self-reflection, including journaling and mindfulness meditation
  • Articulate how learning agility is the lubricant for mental agility, people agility, change agility, results agility, and self-awareness
  • Explain the PRIDE framework for promoting learning agility—Performing, Reflecting, Innovating, Defending, Exploring
  • Specify personal behaviors to stop, start, or continue doing as part of a personal change strategy and self-directed learning action plan
