EVENT DESCRIPTION

The Visionary Leader is the second part of the CFO Certificate Program which Is designed for aspiring, new and experienced CFOs.

Visionary leaders successfully inspire their teams to achieve common, overarching goals. They leverage their teams’ capabilities to deliver innovative insights, while keeping their organizations’ long-term sustainability in mind. To tackle their organizations’ toughest challenges, today’s CFOs must be forward-thinking, flexible, and adaptive to change. This program will help aspiring, new, and experienced CFOs develop a practical set of skills for driving strategy and nurturing creativity and innovation among their team members. Participants will become more pro-active members of their executive teams, further contributing to their organizations’ performance.

This program fosters a high energy, interactive learning environment. Activities consist of a combination of cases, exercises, tool kits, lively discussions, as well as networking and sharing experiences. SPEAKER(S) BIO

Barbara A. Palmegiani, B. Comm., FCPA, FCMA is a Partner and National CFO & Controllership Services Leader for BDO Canada. BDO is a leading provider of professional services to clients across Canada and beyond.

Barbara is a former VP, Finance and CFO with broad industry experience in consumer and customer focused businesses: real estate, retail, CPG, health & wellness, private equity. Her executive experience includes reporting directly to CEOs, COOs, and BODs.

Since 2008 Barbara shifted her full time focus to consulting for CFOs. She specializes in Finance Transformation work providing advisory, project leadership, training and coaching to ‘C’ level executives and BODs. Work crosses for-profit large multi-national billion dollar companies, SMEs, entrepreneurial driven start-ups, as well as NFP, and public sector exposure at the municipal, provincial and federal levels of government.

For over 18 years, Barbara has been an educator for CPA Ontario as a session leader for the CPA Certification Program, a developer and facilitator of continuous learning workshops for Controllers and CFO’s. She also facilitates corporate in-house training and coaching for finance and non-finance leaders. Barbara has also served as a part time lecturer for various university undergraduate and MBA programs.

Laurence ‘Larry’ Ginsberg, FCPA, FCA, Larry has been providing strategic management, business advisory and mentoring services to innovative and high growth clients for over thirty years.

He has served in senior financial and senior operational roles for various corporations in the IT, manufacturing, retail and wholesale industries. He has acquired significant experience in managing teams of people, strategic development, execution , transforming and growing various firms. Larry has served on the Board of Directors of both public and not-for-profit corporations.

He is the Adjunct Professor of Strategy and Policy at the Schulich School of Business. He lectures in strategic management, strategy for the global organization, family business, entrepreneurship and mergers and acquisitions. Larry has been a developer and a managing facilitator of many executive level programs for CPA Ontario. He has co authored four books and had a weekly column for the Globe and Mail.
