John Fabbro, Tax Partner In Charge, KPMG LLP, Enterprise

John is the Lead Tax Partner in KPMG’s GTA Enterprise practice and specializes in providing tax services to Canadian-owned private companies in a number of industry sectors. John has over 25 years of experience as a tax professional and was part of the KPMG team that built Enterprise a number of years ago. He specializes in providing tax advice to high-net-worth families including business owners. John was national leader for tax planning with respect to Estates and Trusts for KPMG. John helps his clients deal with succession through estate planning which includes the use of life insurance and donation planning through effective use of private foundations.

John has done presentations for both the Italian Chamber of Commerce and the CIBPA (Canadian Italian Business and Professional Association) on various topics including succession planning. John has lectured at various tax conferences, taught advanced tax courses such as Tax for the Owner Manager at the University of Waterloo and appeared on television and radio broadcasts as well as authored articles for various publications. John sits on the board of the Italian Chamber of Commerce as Treasurer.

Gianpaolo Bozzo, Tax Partner, KPMG LLP

Background Gianpaolo has over thirteen years of experience advising privately owned businesses. His professional experience has been dedicated to assisting private companies and high net worth individuals with all aspects of financial matters impacting their businesses.

Professional and Industry Experience. Gianpaolo’s practice ranges from privately-owned multinationals to large owner managed businesses. He advises in areas such as corporate reorganizations, acquisition and divestitures, estate planning, and compensation strategies. Gianpaolo regularly delivers integrated tax advice for privately owned companies.

Gianpaolo’s passion is assisting clients with the transfer of wealth to their heirs and a succession plan for their private company. Gianpaolo has extensive experience in estate planning and assisting clients minimizing taxation on the sale of their business. Gianpaolo’s ability to cut through complexity and deliver timely information to his clients is a contributing factor to his success and earning his client’s trust. Gianpaolo has worked with some of Canada’s most successful entrepreneurs to assist in building their great businesses.

Other Professional Experience Gianpaolo is a practicing member of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business. Gianpaolo has been an active member in the tax community and has been a group study leader for the In-Depth Tax Course of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants.

Other Activities Gianpaolo is actively involved in his community and has volunteered with the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce and Villa Charities. Gianpaolo is also a member of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Canadian Italian Business Professional Association.

Dalwinder Deol

Background Dal Deol is a Senior Tax Manager with KPMG Enterprise in Toronto. He has over eleven years of tax experience in the private space. His professional experience has been focused on assisting individuals and related entities with tax compliance requirements, tax planning to minimize and defer taxation, and with all financial related matters surrounding their businesses.

Professional Experience Dal’s practice ranges from privately-owned multinationals and private equity funds to individuals and owner managed businesses. He specializes in the following areas: - Corporate reorganizations to minimize taxation and achieve commercial objectives, - Tax planning in connection with the sale and purchase of businesses, - Succession and estate planning to defer and minimize taxation while transferring wealth between generations, - Taxation of partnerships and related tax planning to implement new partnership structures, and - Providing integrated tax advice for owner-managers of Canadian controlled private corporations.

Dal focuses on clients in various industries including professional services, consumer packaged goods, retail and portfolio investment entities. Dal’s ability to cut through the complexity and provide value add services to his clients is a contributing factor to his success and earning his status as a trusted advisor.

Other Professional Experience Dal has presented various personal and corporate tax matters to the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce and The Advocates’ Society. He has also participated as a group study leader for the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 In-Depth Tax Course (CPA Canada). Dal also actively works to develop and facilitate monthly seminars and workshops for KPMG Enterprise tax colleagues on various tax related matters.

Other Activities Dal is involved in the community and an active member of the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce. He also spends time volunteering at tax clinics for the Villa Charities and the Columbus Centre.
