EVENT DESCRIPTION
In this newly minted course, TEDx speaker Morgan Hamel asserts that the “old” way of managing business ethics, corporate reputation, whistleblowing and ESG (environmental, social, and governance) is flawed in that it fails to take into account a significant and growing issue for organizations: stakeholder polarization. This, paired with increasing expectations of leaders to provide moral leadership and “take a stand” on social and environmental topics and a significant rise in (often public, social media-fueled) stakeholder activism has resulted in a new and very risky business environment. Diving into the grey of business and ethics, Morgan shares her personal experience and real-life case studies to help participants understand what is at stake for individuals and organizations - and offers concrete strategies to help participants at all levels of organizations skillfully navigate this new era.
After presenting the idea that the prevalent “everybody wins” attitude towards sustainability has failed to equip employees and leaders with the skills to navigate the very real tension that can arise between different stakeholder expectations in business, Morgan offers concrete tools to help employees and leaders become more adept at navigating this new era. Drawing on the thoughts and research of her business contacts and world-renowned thought leaders, Morgan offers a refreshing and thought-provoking session – the goal of which is to help individuals and corporations avoid moral injury and increase business integrity.
