This is the registration for Day 5 ONLY of the Master Controllership Program

Before registering for this session, please note, it is going to be an in-person session and will be held at the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario office in at 130 King St. W. in Toronto. You MUST attend in person to participate, there will not be an option to join this session virtually.

We are no longer asking for vaccine attestation or mandatory masking in our sessions for anything on or after October 1, 2022, but we do ask that you do your best to protect yourself and others. This is a five day best-practice learning program that seamlessly interweaves soft skills with vital, functional technical skills that will prepare participants to meet the many challenges that controllers and directors of finance face.

By completing this program, you will:

  • Gain a strong appreciation of what organizations expect from the controllership and finance directors
  • Better understand of how to build your finance team to become a strategic business partner to your organization
  • Learn how to manage your time more effectively and make way for financial analysis
  • Explore the future role of the management accountant and how the profession is improving outcomes for companies and their business communities
  • Use the Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking for Sound Decision-Making Tool to learn your strengths and weaknesses as they relate to developing strategy, reducing risk and other business competencies required by your organization on a day-to-day basis and as you advance your career

Upon completion, participants will have proven methods and techniques they can use in everyday workplace situations and challenges of dealing with complexity and uncertainty.

Barbara A. Palmegiani, B. Comm., FCPA, FCMA is a Partner and National CFO & Controllership Services Leader for BDO Canada. BDO is a leading provider of professional services to clients across Canada and beyond.

Barbara is a former VP, Finance and CFO with broad industry experience in consumer and customer focused businesses: real estate, retail, CPG, health & wellness, private equity. Her executive experience includes reporting directly to CEOs, COOs, and BODs.

Since 2008 Barbara shifted her full time focus to consulting for CFOs. She specializes in Finance Transformation work providing advisory, project leadership, training and coaching to ‘C’ level executives and BODs. Work crosses for-profit large multi-national billion dollar companies, SMEs, entrepreneurial driven start-ups, as well as NFP, and public sector exposure at the municipal, provincial and federal levels of government.

For over 18 years, Barbara has been an educator for CPA Ontario as a session leader for the CPA Certification Program, a developer and facilitator of continuous learning workshops for Controllers and CFO’s. She also facilitates corporate in-house training and coaching for finance and non-finance leaders. Barbara has also served as a part time lecturer for various university undergraduate and MBA programs.


This is the registration for Day 5 ONLY.

  • Participants may register for: a) the full five-day program, b) two days of technical, or c) two days of soft skills. The fifth day is a comprehensive simulation of the realities of business ownership and paints big-picture understanding that leads to good decisions back on the job.
  • Participants who complete the entire 5-day program will be eligible to write an optional certificate exam. The exam is not a mandatory component, however certificates will ONLY be awarded to those who successfully complete the exam.)
