EVENT DESCRIPTION

Develop your thinking and action to lead equity, inclusion and belonging at work.

OVERVIEW

Sustaining an equitable and inclusive work environment is critical to the future of organizations and society. Becoming an effective leader with a vision for the future relies on our awareness of social identities and our ability to connect and collaborate across diverse backgrounds. Establishing a personal equity practice is an essential step toward achieving these objectives.

Offered by The Ivey Academy in partnership with CPA Ontario, Leading Inclusively as CPAs is a program that enables managers and executives at all levels to enhance their knowledge and capacity to lead people inclusively. From identifying the inequitable and exclusionary spaces in your own organization, to finding purposeful, effective ways of lowering those barriers, you will be empowered to question, intervene, and drive change.

Unlike typical training programs on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, this course goes beyond a simple ‘to-do’ checklist. You will use a combination of critical thinking, systems’ perspective, deep listening, and reflective actions to turn concepts about equity and inclusion into practical, sustainable outcomes for your organization and community.

SPEAKER(S) BIO

Dr. Erin Huner is the Director, Culture and Inclusion at Ivey Business School where she leads EDI programming and community engagement. As a settler to Canada, Erin approaches the work of building equitable and inclusive culture as a listener. She practices listening as a way to better understand her own privilege and how she might use her privilege to open spaces for equity deserving individuals to speak into, and rebuild, those spaces, systems and policies where they have been historically marginalized. She also approaches the work of building equitable and inclusive culture through her lived experience of being the mother of a child who is neurodiverse. This lived experience has vividly taught her that the intersections that build who we are, and our lived experiences, require that we work together to build systems, institutions and policies that actively seek, and make space for, the full and inclusive participation of diverse community members. Erin has a deep appreciation of the collaborative and restorative approaches necessary to open spaces, and work alongside equity deserving students, staff, and faculty to build welcoming and equitable communities. She has expertise in Implementation Science and Evaluation, and has used this expertise to implement and design research and programming focused on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and Gender-Based-Violence (GBV); student skill acquisition; and student mental health and wellbeing. Erin has experience developing frameworks to address embedded culture, and is passionate about developing and evolving culture to support organizational strategy.

Mazi has deep learning and development expertise and extensive experience in leadership development.
